Judy Chicago: The pursuit of gender equality in the arts

She is a woman, a feminist, and an artist. A surname without patriarchal elements represents her identification with her femininity and her disdain for the patriarchal society. Judy Chicago's art focuses on women's issues, boldly displaying the female body and passionately celebrating women's achievements. In addition, she founded the first women's art program to help more women enter the art world.

In August 2021, the de Young Museum hosted Judy Chicago's first retrospective, a look back at her artistic life spanning more than 60 years. The colourful smoke at the opening ceremony symbolized the diversity of colours in the art world, Judy Chicago's artistic achievements, and the endless possibilities of a future for women.
