In this week's episode of the Business Breakfast, I talk to Julio Alonso, Director General of Wines of Chile in the US.
The problem that Chile has is not so much generating awareness of its incredible wines, but that of genarating awareness of its incredible country, the diversity of its climates and the incredible landmarks and places that occupy the vast country. From Patagonia in the south to thr Atacama in the north, Chile is still a rather undiscovered land. This is where the work of Julio comes in.
His remit as Director General of Wines of Chile is to increase awareness of Chile as a destination, so that wine lovers and prospective investers get to experience it as a country full of opportunity. In this episode we talk about Julio's work in China, the US and India and the challenges he faces and faced in China, where the work of promoting chilean wine to a nation of 1.3 billion is not to be underestimated.
