Colossians 1:1-14



Intro:  What do you want for a stranger?



I.  Paul’s love for the Colossians



         A.  At one time, Paul didn’t know any of them



         B.  Now they have a deep bond



                  1.  He prays for them



                  2.  He wants them to persevere and grow as disciples



                  3.  He wants them to have eternal life and reward



         C.  Paul didn’t bring them to Christ, Epaphras did.



                  1.  He shared with them a story with a promise



                  2.  The Gospel that is bearing fruit all over the world



II.  What does Paul ask for the Colossians?



         A.  Faith and love that spring from a Heavenly expectation



                  1.  The same faith and love that is in you



                  2.  Our expectation



                  3.  Our concern for someone who is a stranger to us



         B.  Their progress as disciples of Jesus



                  1.  Growing knowledge and spiritual wisdom and understanding



                  2.  A life that is worthy



                  3.  Amped up with the fruit of the Spirit



                  4.  Filled with genuine worship



         C.  So that they may repeat this process with others



                  1.  Paul, Epaphras, the Colossians, you and me



                  2.  Just like planting seed
