JULY 2 - Chasing What Really Matters3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 19:8; Psalm 75; Luke 2//3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon//________________________________________“Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will discover good.” — Proverbs 19:8 (ESV)“But I will declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. All the horns of the wicked I will cut off, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.” — Psalm 75:9–10 (ESV)“And he said to them, ‘Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?’” — Luke 2:49 (ESV)________________________________________Have you ever felt like you were chasing after a hundred things—good grades, sports, friendships, future goals—and wondered what really matters most? Proverbs 19:8 tells us that seeking wisdom is actually one of the best ways to care for ourselves because it leads us toward what is truly good. Psalm 75 reminds us that no matter what’s happening in the world, God honors those who do what is right. And in Luke 2, we see young Jesus choosing to be in His Father’s house, showing us that a life centered on God gives everything else its meaning. The truth is, life can get noisy, and it’s easy to chase things that won’t last. Wisdom helps us focus on what matters most—God’s presence, His Word, and living in a way that honors Him. When we start there, everything else—school, goals, relationships—falls into the right place.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Seeking Wisdom: What’s one way you can “get sense” and grow in understanding this week (Proverbs 19:8)? Maybe it’s spending time in God’s Word or talking to someone wise about a decision you’re facing.2. Living Right: How does remembering that God lifts up the righteous (Psalm 75:10) help you choose integrity when it feels like shortcuts might be easier?3. Centering on God: Jesus made time for His Father’s house even as a young person (Luke 2:49). What would it look like for you to center your life on God before everything else?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEWhen you seek wisdom and put God first, you discover what truly matters and live with a purpose that lasts.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for showing me that wisdom begins with You. Help me to focus on what truly matters—knowing You, following Your Word, and living in a way that honors You. Give me understanding in my choices and keep my heart centered on You above everything else. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
