When you have goals or a to do list, give yourself a deadline. If you don't give yourself a deadline, then the goal will take forever to do. This is also known as Parkinson's law. If you say you're going to do a half marathon one day, and still haven't done it yet, it's probably because you have set a deadline yet. So if this is your goal, or if you have some other type of goal, make sure you have a date that you will complete the task by. 

Without a deadline, it’s just a wish and wishes don’t come true. A deadline also adds pressure to the situation and helps us visualize the outcome that we want to have. We then start to create a plan that will help us reach our goal, and then we don’t want to disappoint ourselves by failing. We want to feel good about our future self, so let’s not disappoint them.
