JULY 9 - Plans, Promises, and Purpose3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 19:20–21; Luke 9//3-Year Bible Devotional Book (Year Two) Available on Amazon//________________________________________“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” — Proverbs 19:20–21 (ESV)“For the Son of Man came not to destroy people’s lives but to save them.” — Luke 9:56 (ESV)“But Jesus said to him, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.’” — Luke 9:62 (ESV)________________________________________Have you ever had everything planned out—your weekend, your school year, even your future—only for things to go completely differently? It’s frustrating when life doesn’t go according to our plans. Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that while we dream, schedule, and prepare, it’s ultimately God’s purpose that will stand. In Luke 9, Jesus shows us that His mission was never to ruin our lives but to save them, and He calls us to follow Him with full commitment, without looking back. When life changes or God redirects your plans, it doesn’t mean He’s forgotten you—it means He sees a bigger picture you can’t yet see. Following Jesus sometimes means surrendering your timeline for His, trusting that His purpose leads to life, hope, and joy greater than anything you could plan for yourself.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Listen and Learn: How can you open your heart to God’s wisdom through prayer, Scripture, and wise advice (Proverbs 19:20)?2. God’s Purpose Wins: What plans in your life do you need to surrender to God, trusting that His purpose is better than your own (Proverbs 19:21)?3. No Looking Back: Jesus calls for full commitment (Luke 9:62). What distractions or doubts might be holding you back from fully following Him?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEYour plans may change, but God’s purpose will always lead you toward His best for your life.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that Your purpose always stands even when my plans fall apart. Help me to trust You with my future, follow You wholeheartedly, and listen to Your wisdom every day. Teach me to surrender my plans and walk confidently in Your purpose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
