Christian Prayer:
Morning Prayer for Saturday in Week 7 of Easter
God, come to my assistance.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
HYMN
Blessing and honor and glory and power,
Hear through the heavens the sound of God's name,
Ever ascending the song and the prayer;
Let us give glory and praise to the Lamb;
PSALMODY
Ant. 1 The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life, alleluia.
Psalm 119
I call with all my heart; Lord, hear me,
I rise before dawn and cry for help,
In your love hear my voice, O Lord;
But you, O Lord, are close,
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Psalm-prayer
Save us by the power of your hand, Father, for our enemies have ignored your words. May the fire of your word consume our sins and its brightness illumine our hearts.
Ant. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life, alleluia.
Ant.2 Lord, you have built your temple and altar on your holy mountain, alleluia.
Canticle β Wisdom 9:1-6, 9-11
God of my fathers, Lord of mercy,
Give me Wisdom, the attendant at your throne,
Indeed, though one be perfect among the sons of men,
Now with you is Wisdom who knows your works
Send her forth from your holy heavens
For she knows and understands all things,
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Ant. Lord, you have built your temple and altar on your holy mountain, alleluia.
Ant. 3 I am the way, the truth and the life, alleluia.
Psalm 117
O praise the Lord, all you nations,
Strong is his love for us;
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Psalm-prayer
God, our Father, may all nations and peoples praise you. May Jesus, who is called faithful and true and who lives with you eternally, possess our hearts forever.
Ant. I am the way, the truth and the life, alleluia.
READING Romans 14:7-9
None of us lives as his own master and none of us dies as his own master. While we live we are responsible to the Lord, and when we die we die as his servants. Both in life and in death we are the Lordβs. That is why Christ died and came to life again, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Sacred Silence (indicated by a bell) β a moment to reflect and receive in our hearts the full resonance of the voice of the Holy Spirit and to unite our personal prayer more closely with the word of God and public voice of the Church.
RESPONSORY
The Lord is risen from the tomb, alleluia, alleluia.
He hung upon the cross for us,
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
CANTICLE OF ZECHARIAH
Ant. Know that I am with you always, even until the end of the world, alleluia.
Luke 1:68 β 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
Through his holy prophets he promised of old
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High;
In the tender compassion of our God
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
Ant. Know that I am with you always, even until the end of the world, alleluia.
