As we know, there are so many things that could be filed under that umbrella. However, in this instance, Phil is referring to a new OpenAI technology called “Voice Engine”.
Voice Engine replicates or “clones” voices with a 15-second sample and has the capability to translate that voice to other languages other than the speaker’s native language.
If not regulated or watermarked in some way, this technology opens the door to voice impersonations of prominent individuals such as politicians and celebrities.
To put your mind at ease (for now), this new technology is not yet available to the public.
