We all have beliefs about how we should be living our lives. We get those beliefs from the intellectual knowledge we gain from school, reading, conferences, and more. And even though we've learned that knowledge, many of us still struggle to implement it into our lives.
We struggle because we expect ourselves to do it all. But there is a difference between intellectual knowledge and applied knowledge. Just because you know something to be true, doesn't mean you live it.
The gap between what you've learned and what you do is where many of us beat ourselves up. But I want you to know that it's okay to have gaps. We all know a lot of stuff but don't act on it, and that doesn't make us bad or not enough.
My friend, it takes bravery and courage to commit to decisions, to apply the knowledge you've learned, and to create the space and structure to try. It might take weeks, months, or even years.
In today's episode, I'm sharing the ways I'm being compassionate and giving myself grace for the gap between my intellectual knowledge and applied knowledge. It's the same grace I teach my clients and my swimming students to have. You're going to make mistakes, you're going to feel discomfort. But remember, you can always put your feet down.
