Just Do It

Listen Later

Just Do It points to the book of James in the Bible that shares with us to be obedient to the promptings of the the Holy Spirit, that faith without works isn't a good thing and why. It shares with us when we obey God we get the blessing of being the hands and feet of Jesus to others. We end up growing in our faith while also helping to possibly strengthen someone else's, all by saying YES to Gods call on your heart.

James 1:19-25

Hearing and Doing the Word
19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

Hearing and Doing

  • The difference in hearing and doing is one stops after taking in the word and the other one is just getting started oncce the word has been spoke.
  • We are called to walk out what we hear in The Word of God.
  • We are deceiving ourselves, other believers, and non believers when we choose to not have works in our faith.
  • James 2:14-26

    Faith Without Works Is Dead
14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good[b] is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

    Faith Without Works

    • A heart filled with the spirit of God will want to willingly follow God's calls on our heart.
    • Each believer has a feeling they get when the spirit is telling them something!
    • For me it is a feeling in my stomach, every single time!
    • If you look at the two stories from verse 23-26 you see that the works was uncomfortable but what came out of them was blessing and growth in their faiths.
    • The Ripple Effect Of Obedience

      • When you make one choice to obey God the chain reaction begins. Whether in your heart or it begins in someone else's life.
      • My one choice of obedience opened me up to a while day of experiencing Christ in an amazing way. Getting to be the hands and feet of Jesus is the most amazing feeling,
      • God showed me that the obedience can be in a small way or big way, the size doesn't matter to God, its the growth of the heart that does.
