Over Christmas, Elspeth had been staying with a family who really enjoyed jigsaws, and her imagination went to work, thinking of the different chunks of life that make up current-day St.Albans. This meant not only familiar buildings, like the Abbey, but the difficult things we are all going through, like yet another virus. There might be a jigsaw of the physical aspects of St. Albans but nobody yet can have poured all the aspects of today’s living into a picture, never mind splitting it up into little pieces.
