I use Claude all day, every day. But there are things I know to do for my business that AI would never think to tell me, because I put in the reps first.
About a month ago I had a conversation with a college valedictorian who chose not to use AI through his entire college career. Not because he was scared of it. Because he wanted to actually know the material before he applied AI to it. He wanted the reps first. That stopped me in my tracks, because the same thing is true in business.
So in this episode I am sharing three ways to grow your brand that have nothing to do with AI.
1. Google Search Console is still a powerhouse, and it just got better. It is one of the most powerful free tracking tools out there, and the new update lets you connect your Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Search is changing. People find businesses through video, social, and AI assistants now, and this gives you a bird's eye view of where your business is actually coming from. Free tool, ten minutes to set up.
2. Do not be a jerk about cancellations. I saw a whole Reddit thread about how to make subscriptions hard to cancel. Hide the button, add extra steps, make them email support and wait. No. The number one retention strategy is being a good human, and I will tell you exactly what I did this week when a member emailed me to cancel for financial reasons.
3. Think through your options before you commit to a path. I spent 59 minutes with a VIP building a beautiful landing page, and then we realized she did not use that platform anymore and could not launch it. There is no one right way. Review the map before you pick the path, and customize it for YOUR business instead of copying someone else's.
The thread tying all three together: they came from reps. From setting up the tools, answering the emails, sitting on the calls. AI can multiply what you know. It cannot replace knowing it.
Put in the reps. Then hand the busywork to the robots.
