The tradition of RUMC is to invite a guest speaker who can connect with the interests of our high school graduates. I’m excited to welcome Aneelah Afzali, Executive Director of MAPS-AMEN (Muslim Association of Puget Sound-American Muslim Empowerment Network) as our guest. Aneelah is no stranger to our community. She is an interfaith advocate who has offered several educational events to combat Islamophobia, which members of our congregation have participated in, and she leads the Facts over Fear campaign. Aneelah also serves on the Steering Committee of the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network and on the Board of Faith Action Network.
Both of our high school graduates, Sabina and Annnika, have taken an interest in learning more about our Muslim brothers and sisters.
