God is Just, Loving and Merciful. As a just God he can not overlook sin and the punishment for sin but as a merciful he has provided a way to justify us and declare us righteous. Reconciliation gives the idea of a pre-existing relationship and so God plan to bring us back to his original plan through the process of Justification which is by faith.
