If you google the title of this episode you’ll see the poster that inspired it. A giant mansion with a prestige green yard, overlooking the ocean at sunset. Oh, and a 5 slotted supercar filled garage in full view. Ah, The American Dream.
My brother had this poster in his wall growing up so naturally I used the same mental programming for my now, pledging allegiance to their chosen University, children.
“All ya have to go is go to college son, and this too could be you!”
To kinda quote the film Tommy Boy, Businessmen put a guarantee on higher education, because they want to you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.… Well we’re not buying it. (… A lot of people go to college for 7 years.)
Since the time of my DARE education so much MORE information has come to light, in like every single way imaginable and ways we could have never fathomed. Like the internet...How’s that addiction working for ya?
School is a tool, it’s all how you use it. The internet is a tool. It’s not net negative or positive, it’s the users intentions that matter. Most medicine is also tool, to get us healthy and NOT need it anymore, not to become a dependent for life.$$ But who am I to judge your mental prescriptions & distractions, while I’m still learning to manage my own?
“Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.”
“You can’t point a finger at someone else without at lest three pointing back at you.”
Yeah, I learned the hard way too, to not judge others who aren’t you. You never know what going on in someone’s head, or truly in their heart.. sometimes even when you ask.
We can only try to understand our own tools better and operate ourselves from a more informed place of true authenticity, and that’s a great start!
