Reading from Luke 18:9-14 The Parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector. Discussion looks at the Pharisees' prayer and heart vs. the tax collector's. This is the third occurrence of Jesus teaching that those who exalt themselves will be humbled. Comparing ourselves to others is part of the human condition, our sin nature. Our views of notorious sins create stigmas in our minds that make us like the Pharisees.
