Jye Dawes
Eco Holistic Permaculture
You’ll be as shocked as I was by the wisdom and insight from such a young dude! Jye Dawes grows forests that supply everything required for healthy, happy and completely sustainable living. Food, Clothing, Homes… it’s awesome! In this riveting interview he shares the entire process.
Growing Food Forests
A true green-thumb, Jye was the youngest nursery manager at the permaculture research institute of Australia where he worked with Geoff Lawton the legendary permaculture consultant, designer, teacher and speaker.
Jye’s experimentation with soil microbiology and ecosystem mimicry in the nursery and at lead him to pioneer Naturalised Nursery Practice. NNP is an all organic process that produces greater quantity and quality, faster and cheaper than current sterile chemical nursery practice.
In 2016 Jye co-founded the Yarrabah Garden Center Project, a social enterprise, cooperative NGO, that operates in collaboration with the local indigenous community. The cooperative grow organic vegetables, fruit and seedlings for the community. The surplus is sold to cairns surrounds. This initiative empowers community members with sustainable solutions to their nutrition, social and employment issues.
Based from Cairns in tropical north Queensland, Australia, Jye serves as a freelance consult designing and implementing permaculture systems at numerous intentional communities and eco-conscious farms.
Jye teaches permaculture courses and speaks at conferences and festivals and sustainable events.  He’s just released his first book; Food Forestry – The ideal human habitat. The book lays out Jye’s proven methodology on how to design and grow all our needs in a way that self maintains like a natural forest, is regenerative and creates a legacy of abundance for future generations.
