On today’s Complicated Conversation we welcome Karma Brown to discuss her new novel, What Wild Women Do, a dual timeline story about an aspiring contemporary screenwriter, a 1970s socialite-turned-feminist, and the camp in the woods that ties their stories together forever. Part mystery, part ode to female solidarity and strength, What Wild Women Do explores ambition, betrayal, and the wildness that exists in all of us.
We chat with Karma about what she learned about herself from creating the women of this novel; how she has come to hold things gently and trust herself; the various interactions of this novel; Karms’a own “wild” and adventurous childhood; her practice of writing letters to her future self (we’re sooo going to do this!); and our shared fascination with crows and inspiration from Rick Rubin!
What Wild Women Do is out now!
