Kasi Lemmons

Kasi Lemmons was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.

Growing up, she was drawn to storytelling and the arts, with her mother being a counselor and educator, and her father a biology teacher.

Lemmons attended the Boston University School of Fine Arts, later transferring to New York University, and also studied at UCLA.

Initially pursuing acting, she appeared in films like The Silence of the Lambs before transitioning to directing.

Her diverse upbringing and education fostered a deep appreciation for narrative and identity.
