We welcome Katelyn Garcia to the Hidden Cube podcast. Katelyn is from Logan Utah, currently attending the BFA program at BYU, and has recently completed her Senior BFA solo show in Gallery 303 (Main). Her solo show Pilgrimage was on display February 12-23 2022. Listen to this episode to hear our conversation with Katelyn, as we discuss her motives and actions in an effort to connect with land and body.

“Pilgrimage is centered on meditative interactions with the land through the use of the artist’s body. Drawing from these performances and the surrounding landscapes, she creates photos and sculptural works that highlight the interconnectedness between the body of the earth and our own bodies. Pilgrimage began as the artist’s attempt to connect to something higher through the landscape, and grew to become about not only how our interactions with the land can be meditative and spiritual experiences that change us but how the earth serves as record of the complexities of our relationship with it.”
