Kathryn Townsend, a Slidell woman, received the Athena Leadership Award for her professional excellence, community service, and support of other women. Townsend, who retired from the Naval Oceanographic Office, was also recognized for mentoring minority students in ocean science. She credits her strong faith, work ethic, and service-minded heart to her upbringing in Indian Village. Lauren Kaufmann Navarre, the COO and co-founder of The Arena Collective, received the Young Professional Leadership Award.
