About the Guest: Kay Warren co-founded Saddleback Church with her husband Rick in 1980, serving until Rick's retirement in 2022. After the loss of their son Matthew, who struggled with mental illness, Kay launched Saddleback's Hope for Mental Health Initiative to support those affected by mental health issues and suicide. In 2019, she founded BREATHE, a ministry providing respite retreats and support for parents of children with serious mental illness. Kay has been active in suicide prevention efforts and has authored several books, including Sacred Privilege and Choose Joy. She has three children and five grandchildren. Kay Warren, born into a pastor's family, knows the life of ministry deeply and personally. Growing up as a pastor's kid, she later married a pastor, making her life's journey intrinsically tied to the church. This unique experience fostered a profound empathy and camaraderie with other pastors' wives, driving her to support and connect with women sharing her path. This area of focus has significantly shaped Kay's life, marking her as a compassionate advocate within the ministry community.
