Episode 7 of Australian Stories of Healing Pain introduces Kayla Morgan. Kayla is a Reiki practitioner meditation creator and artist in South Australia.

In 2016 when Kayla was 28 years old, she began to experience symptoms such as food intolerances, fatigue and anxiety. Doctors couldn't find an explanation for her symptoms and Kayla started to believe it was all in her head, making excuses and brushing them off. While there were some abnormal thyroid results during this time, doctors were unable to find a clear cut diagnosis.

It was when Kayla was crying at her work desk that a colleague suggested she see a naturopath. With some 'testing' by the naturopath, a detailed health history and checking of previous bloods, Kayla was given a dietary plan going forwards. It was hard, but it helped.

Fast forward a few years to 2019 and the symptoms start creeping back in. Fatigue, hair falling out, dry skin and pain. The pain was in Kayla's neck and shoulder, it would appear in line with her menstrual cycle and was so bad that she would find herself on the couch all day taking Panadol after Panadol. Once again Kayla brushes them off and makes excuses. But it is with the devastating experience of a pregnancy loss that Kayla is finally diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease.
