A Huskies Health

Keisha Cummings

A Husky's Health is back with Chris Bellamy who was away last week speaking at a convention. He is the host of the hit podcast All Black Men Need Therapy. Back by popular demand is Keisha Cummings, who was on Husky Talk last week and it was so well received, we asked her to return.

Keisha talks about working in Richmond, Virginia with young black youths, but she calls them her babies because she cares so much about helping them. She feels that there should be multiple educational opportunities for kids and being stuck in a single district can be difficult.

Chris talks about a family member who is smart, charismatic, well liked, and got into a lot of trouble growing up. Chris thinks this is a product of his environment and the friends he was hanging out with that caused him to go down a rough path. Chris also is developing a workshop on the importance of a father being in a child's life. Regardless of a two-parent household, or co-parenting, fathers are intricate in how a child will grow up. Chris believes fathers should have more rights in cases where a couple is separated or divorced.

Listening to Chris and Keisha talk about several issues was extremely informative for me. I learned about Charter schools and why it is a hot button issue. Chris talked about being 12 years old and his father visiting him when he was in juvenile detention, and it was that discussion I believe ultimately changed Chris' life. He got his life together, went down a different path and is a huge success story now. This was a fantastic episode, and Chris was sick, I really appreciate that he did the show.
