Kelsi Rea

Listen Later

Joy Vanderley and I had the privilege of sitting down with Kelsi Rea and hearing about her school (more info below), and her thoughts on a Charlotte Mason education: parents as Guide, Philosopher, and Friend, issues that she notices through her consults, and advice for parents of high school students.

About Kelsi:

"In 2019, Kelsi founded Heritage Christian Academy,  Indiana's first Charlotte Mason micro-school in Mishawaka, IN on the campus of Bethel University.  The Academy has since tripled in size and in 2022, Kelsi and her husband Rusty opened Heritage Meeting House, which is also the home of Heritage Children's Library, an 8,000+ volume Preservation library that is now open to the public, as well as a cafe + coffee shop and homeschool resource center.

Additionally, Kelsi has been developing a Charlotte Mason Sunday School curriculum that has been used in her local church for the last 7 years.  It is being prepared for publication and will be released in 2022.

Kelsi travels extensively, speaking at conferences and churches and consulting with schools and co-ops nationwide, offering leadership development and teacher training workshops in the Charlotte Mason Method.  She is concentrating much of her teaching and consulting on working with neurodivergent children, CM application at home and in the classroom, and developing a foundational understanding of Miss Mason's philosophy.

The Reas live in South Bend, IN with their four children where Kelsi is also actively consulting with local City and State leaders on education in Indiana." - kelsirea.com
