Kenneth Abante is a policy researcher who's behind the Citizen's Budget Tracker, a publicly accessible Excel file showing the details of the government’s COVID-19 budget and spending. He also founded the Move as One Coalition, a movement composed of 140+ orgs and 77k petitioners advocating for a more inclusive public transportation system in the Philippines. 

With over 27 publications and multiple organizations to his name, Kenneth joins the show to discuss the unifying element to all of these: research. He discusses the importance of spending hours to talk to the people experiencing the problems, the sustainability of research as a standalone job, and why we still really need research even after we graduate as students!
