Kept by the Holy Father

Kept by the Holy Father

“I am no longer in the world; but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, so that they may be one just as We are.” - John 17:11.

Jesus was only hours away from the cross. Pain and betrayal were right at the door, yet His heart wasn’t focused on Himself — it was on His disciples. He knew they would remain in a hostile world filled with temptations, pressures, and spiritual attacks. That’s why He prayed: “Holy Father, keep them.”

Notice: Jesus didn’t ask the Father to take them out of the world. He asked for them to be protected in the world. That means God doesn’t shield us from every problem, but He gives us strength to overcome them. The enemy will try to pull us down, distract us, and lure us away from God, but when we trust in the Holy Father, we are unstoppable as long as we fight with the weapons He provides — faith, obedience, and fellowship with Him.

Jesus’ request wasn’t for His followers to be rich, popular, or comfortable. He prayed for them to be holy — set apart from sin, yet not apart from the people who need to hear about God’s love. He prayed for them to be one, just as He and the Father are one. This unity isn’t about being identical; it’s about sharing the same love and purpose: to live for God’s glory.

Today, the same Jesus who prayed for Peter, John, and James is praying for you. He knows the battles you face at school, at work, online, and in your friendships… and He’s still asking the Father: “Keep him. Keep her.”

The question is: are you putting yourself where the Father can keep you? Or are you stepping onto the enemy’s ground by choice? God promises to deliver, but He doesn’t protect those who willingly walk against His will.

Decide today to live under His care. Stand firm in the faith, pursue holiness, walk in unity with other believers, and remember: if the Holy Father is keeping you, nothing and no one can snatch you out of His hands.

“The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
