Welcome to the Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, William Friedman looks at Masechet Ketubot, Daf 32.
This daf discusses, among other things, how we know whether to choose monetary fines or lashes to punish crimeshis that could receive either. In the course of discussing this question, we once again encounter a tension between analogical reasoning and Scriptural derivation, and I offer a possibility for how the latter can be seen as reinforcing, rather than replacing, the former.
The opening and closing music for this podcast is Ufros from The Epichorus album One Bead.
