The US Intelligence community released its annual threat assessment last week amid outrage over the fake signal chat scandal, highlighting China as stands out as the state actor most capable of threatening U.S. interests globally but still a weak assessment that needs to be accomplished under the Trump administration. Late last week a leaked Pentagon memo signed by Secretary Hegseth calls for the US military to prioritize resources against China, labeling it the "sole threat." The guidance emphasizes troop presence and warns against a potential Taiwan takeover. Hegseth also reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to its alliance with Japan. While visiting Tokyo on March 30, he specifically called out China, saying the US and Japan will stand firm “in the face of aggression and coercive actions by the Communist Chinese.” Retired COL John Mills is back with us today to discuss all this and more.
