Individuals often have a huge impact on history.  The death of former Soviet President and General Secretary Gorbachev reminds us how one person, or two people, can change the course of nations. I have chosen several examples of how leaders do make a difference and do make history.  It really does matter who leads and how leaders can and do shape the course of events.
