These subterranean-dwelling relatives of squirrels are sometimes called woodchucks or whistle pigs. We read the book Grumpy Groundhog written by Maureen Wright and illustrated by Amanda Haley. Squirt and Sprout explore the world of art with their cousin and special guest, Charlee. They learn about Charlee’s art challenge and read an art-themed book, Harold and the Purple Crayon, by Crockett Johnson. Today we learned how many trees it takes to draw a forest and another term for raccoons. Whether painting, sketching, or printmaking, art is a fun way to capture the things you like best.

Squirt and Sprout share their favorite types of tree and read an outdoor-themed book, Run Wild, by David Covell. We continue with an adventure walk to explore the trees in our neighborhood. Each tree provides something fun to discover. We encourage you to take time to explore the trees around your home.
