Look, I know you're rolling your eyes right now at this title, but let me remind you of that time your kid was 18mos was squirming in your lap at that restaurant (y'know the time you went to "brunch" with your friends who didn't yet have kids and just rolled out of bed at 11- also happened to be your last brunch)  only to have your kid desperately  reach for your wine glass filled with the 2 for 1 mimosa (brunch special) and when you give him the soft book with the spider and in one motion the kid flings it across the restaurant only to have it land of the floor next to the bathroom all while melting into an hysterical temper tantrum. Ahh Christmas. The holiday that tries to be one thing but ultimately is about another.  Parents seem to fall into two camps; those who listened attentively to their spouse and kids throughout the year and bought all presents by November 1st and those of us who now blame lack of presents on "supply chain issues." There are those that give physical gifts and and those that give experiences. In Mike's case he was able to give his wife heather both! When he gave her a physical gift of a dehumidifier, he also gave her the experience gift of sheer disappointment. Mike can really sit and spin on this one. Listen as Mike and Heather get into it. I just proved the transient property of how your In-Laws WILL show up at your house for holidays. [Nasal voice} "But we normally go to them."
