This afternoon (11/11/21), in our Rambam Bekius chavurah, we analyzed every single component of Halacha 12a-b. We came up with a unified theory for 12a, answering all five (or six?) of our questions in the process and explaining how a coddled learner's learning will suffer. We also did a decent job explaining the components of 12b, about "killing yourself" in your learning and learning "in anger."

Each session consists of us reading through the Rambam's writings together without much preparation on my part, and without going into depth by consulting commentaries or primary sources. For all these reasons, there are bound to be inaccuracies, errors, and other types of shortcomings which would not be acceptable in a prepared shiur, but are quite typical of a bekius chavurah.
