This week on our shameless mental health podcast. . . We dissect the mental health of the dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-Un. Can you believe that some psychiatrists believe he is not a maniac? Is there any validity to this theory? Could his behaviors be the result of operant conditioning? Was he brainwashed and punished into the role of a tyrant? These are the question we explore today. Then, we answer a fan's advice question live on the podcast. This is their letter: Hello Jeremy, Larissa, and Nick:Hope all is well! I'm a stressed-out law student seeking any advice you may be able to provide. While law school is a big stressor, I don't think that's where my anxiety comes from. My issue is in others around me being upset. Generally, I am a pretty positive person, but my mom is in a tough relationship that causes her a lot of mental anguish. I can go through a whole day feeling great, but when I spend time chatting with her on the phone at the end of the day, sometimes I feel so drained. It's almost like I take on her sadness. I want to help her, but I feel helpless (especially since we're so far geographically). Any help? Thanks & well wishes,Your usually mentally OK, sometimes not mentally OK, law student listener.Fortunately, Larissa, Licenced Professional Counselor and Graduate School Professor, was there to help. Did we answer the question well? I suppose that is up to the discretion of the listener. If you have an advice question be sure to write us to
