The 2018/19 season of the BBL was extended to 59 games, with the two Melbourne teams playing in the final mid February.

But despite some fans and commentators saying the season is too long, Cricket Australia's head of BBL, Kim McConnie, says the extension is a sign of success and the longer season has worked well.
