Award-winning architect and DEI&B advocate Kimberly Dowdell’s career has centered on this belief: “As our cities around the globe become denser and more diverse, we must embrace rapid changes in technology and push for rapid change on societal inequities.”. She has demonstrated this mission, formed in her childhood in Detroit, to a national and international cities transformation. She talked about her challenges of aligning her work and expanding the architecture profession to women and people of color with her mission of transforming cities internationally for greater sustainability and societal and workplace inclusion. She has been remarkably successful in getting many of her initiatives supported by her employer, the large architecture firm HOK as well as non-profit and professional associations.
