Kindred Valley started with Lacy and Brett McCoy, two musicians

and fellow Marshall University students who got together, thinking they might

be able to write a song. It was early fall of 2020. The pandemic was raging.

There wasn’t a whole lot else anyone could do, except look for ways to spend

time.

Some other players came and went, but eventually Kindred Valley

started to come together as a trio with a handful of originals. The three

released the songs, but there was essentially no place to go with them. Public

performances were essentially unavailable and, as fall turned to winter, the

pandemic worsened, and they had school.

Fast forward a couple years and the successful release of a

collection of songs, mostly written by Lacey, released at the very end of 2022,

and really finding some traction on social media. Performances at the Purple

Fiddle, Mountain Stage, and now Red Barn Radio has found Kindred Valley a

fast-growing fan base who love their thoughtful writing and the sweet harmonies

they put together.
