Members Reviews:
Stunned at how good this was
Written in 1885, this novel is a story about three English who set off to find someone who has gone missing. Allan Quartermain has been in country for a long time. Sir Henry Curtis and his friend Captain Good convince Quartermain to go on a hunt for Curtis' long-lost brother last seen heading for Kind Solomon's Mine. Considered to be a suicide mission, Quartermain agrees for his own reasons.
Now you might be tempted to believe this will be about savages. It is in a way, but it is more about friendship, diversity, and brotherhood. Haggard has a message of equality among races, as I choose to interpret it. He is a 135+ years ahead of his time. Foulata and Good being my most favorite characters.
I give this book a sincere two thumbs up and has to be on the must read list.
Fantastic narration of a great adventure tale!
