April 3rd 2016 - Lessons from the Life of Absolom - Pastor Josh Guajardo - 2 Samuel 15:1-13
Absolom positioned himself at the city gate to further his own kingly aspirations. Whether or not his father King David knew about it (And why wouldn't he? it was right out in the open), Absolom sought favor with the people, and He got it. It served him well later when he wanted to usurp the throne. The desire to further our own "good" still resides in us. It is a highly spiritual thing to try and balance between our ambition and "doing our best," and our walk with Christ and the humility of the kingdom of God. "Doing our best" can act as a cover for many of our sinful desires, which we ought to strive to distinguish from humble service in emulation of Christ.
