Stephen Sargent started a video production company straight out of high school in 2009, and 17 years later Drive Media House is making TV commercials for national brands, including a few that ran during the Super Bowl.
But the thread he traces back the furthest isn't business. It's a video he made as a sixth grader for his gymnastics team, and the moment he looked up at the banquet and saw people getting emotional. These days that same instinct shows up in Focus, the experiential growth training he and his wife brought to Cincinnati in 2020, a process that over 400 people have now gone through.
We discuss:
- The sixth grade banquet video
- VHS tapes to Super Bowl commercials
- Hauling a desktop to church for faster internet
- The training he hated at first
- Trust as the key that unlocks freedom
- Right vs. wrong, or working vs. not working
- Coddling culture and the high challenge, high support alternative
- Raising adults, not kids
