Jesus gives us the true interpretation of God's commands, thus taking kingdom ethics to the heart level. We become murderers and adulterers not merely by external disobedience, but when anger and lust grow in the recesses of our hearts. This leaves all of us guilty before a holy God. But kingdom citizens are new creations, cleansed by the precious blood of Christ, and empowered the Spirit to cut off the sin that so easily entangles us.
