This story would seem unbelievable if it were not true. Most members don’t know the truth of this time in church history. The miraculous growth of the church in Kirtland was accompanied by miracles of healing, casting out evil spirits and conversions. Amidst bullies in the courtroom, mobs, enemies, and everything Satan could muster, the Lord’s work emerged as a stone cut out of a mountain without hands. Blossoming in and unlikely place—led by a young man with no education or position. In 9 months membership grew from 6 members in April to 230 members in October and to 670 by January. Momentum began to increase in Kirtland,  where the largest congregation of Latter-day Saints on earth exploded on the scene before any leader was appointed.
