When I got the phone call on that ordinary Friday afternoon, that my mom had passed without warning, my whole world went black.
I felt the entire earth crumble beneath my feet.
Why did this happen? Why does it hurt so bad? Why God, why me?
And I kept falling… all the way down to the very bottom.
There were moments I didn’t think I would make it out.
Moments I didn’t know how I would get up.
How I would ever find happiness again.
But day by day,
with Love by my side,
I did.

I wrote this for the woman whose whole life got struck by lightning, and she’s alone in the dark, without a light or way out.

The Light in Her
Have you ever had a moment when the world goes totally dark?
When something hits out of the blue and leaves a jagged mark?
A loss, a breakup, a call you never thought would arrive,
When something deep inside you forgot how to survive.
♡
You ask the question every broken heart has known:
“Why did this happen? God, why am I alone?”
Maybe you feel like a flower that has lost her only sun,
Fallen into the shadows, feeling empty and undone.
♡
But my sweet soul, you are never alone,
Even in the deepest pain, Love has already made a home.
A rose cannot bloom until it’s buried in the ground,
The seed must start in darkness for its true light to be found.
♡
When the voice whispers low, saying “Just give up,”
“Pour another drink, just fill the cup.”
When it says “What’s the point?” and the anger starts to roar,
Gently whisper back: “I’m not that anymore.”
♡
Say, “This isn’t who I am, it’s what I’m ready to release,
I give this to the light, and I find my peace.”
You’re allowed to be scared, you’re allowed to cry,
Safe to let the tears fall from your eye.
♡
There’s no rush to heal, no strength to prove,
No need to justify, nothing to move.
You are safe to rest, safe to let go,
Safe to trust the river as it starts to flow.
♡
That sparkle inside? It can never go out,
It’s the answer to your fear and the cure for your doubt.
Today you chose your light, and your light chose you too,
To love, to become, and to see this through.
♡
The rainbow you dream of,that you think is far?
Reserved only for fairy tales, or another person’s star.
It’s not someone else’s, it was written in your name.
You’re the reason for the promise,you are the sacred flame.
♡
Don’t let the world tell you, your longing is too much.
The desires in your heart arethe fingerprint of God’s touch.
Even when you can’t see, through the rain pouring down,
the sun is shining inside you, wearing love like a crown.
♡
Just like the rose, you hold the original seed, the original Spark.
Your compass through the tunnel, your candle in the dark,
Your clarity, your center, your one unshaken home.
You were never truly lost. You were never left alone.

The storm is passing over, the Rose begins to rise,
The rainbow is already yours, beneath these healing skies.
So take this truth, and let it burn bright…
You have been filled with the One Holy Light.
