We build our own Pan-Tilt-Zoom with an Arduino and a GoPro!

Stepduino 3 Assembly

Project Description

  • We're taking the pieces from "Stepduino 2" (Episode 211) and turning it into a functioning PTZ mount
  • This is NOT a finished project, but a proof-of-concept

Parts and Tools

  1. 2 x 28BYJ-48 Motor + ULN2003 Driver $2.08
  2. 5V UBEC $2.68
  3. Arduino
  4. Jumpers
  5. 3D Printer
  6. Power Source

3D Printed Parts:

  1. Base
  2. Bottom Shelf for Stepper 1
  3. Shaft Adapters
  4. Top Shelf for Stepper 2
  5. GoPro Mount

Steps:

  1. Install Stepper 1 into the bottom shelf using M3 screws and nuts
  2. Connect Stepper 1 to Driver Board 1
  3. Connect Driver Board 1 to 4 pins on the Arduino
  4. Install Stepper 2 into the top shelf
  5. Connect Stepper 2 to Driver Board 2
  6. Attach Top Shelf to the shaft adapter for the lower stepper motor
  7. Attach GoPro to GoPro Mount
  8. Attach Go Pro Mount to Top Shelf
  9. Attach Top shelf to Stepper 1 shaft
  10. Let's Wire it up!
