Psalm 92:12-15
Hebrews1:1-2
How does God speak to us? He can speak any way He wants to. But there are certain ways that He has spoken again and again. Do we hear His voice as often as He is speaking? There is a lot of communication happening on a football field. Some verbal some not verbal. The quarterback often has a speaker built in to his helmet to hear the voice of the coach. In a game it is crucial for the success of the team to have open communication and to respond to the play calls. We can know the play. Let's get practical. How does God speak? 1. The BibleThe Bible chronicles God's revelation of Himself to humanity. Have you ever been reading the Bible when suddenly you were gripped by a fresh understanding of God's character? That's God speaking to you! It's not just a history book. Through the pages of your Bible, you can hear the dynamic, convicting, living voice of God Himself.2. PrayerIn Romans 8:26-27 Paul says that the Holy Spirit helps us to pray "with groanings too deep for words." Through prayer the Spirit of God will speak to us and on our behalf in intercession according to the will of God. We can and should bring our requests to God because He cares. But we need to pray in accordance to His will as well. When we do we'll hear Him. 3. CircumstancesWe can't see what our current circumstances will lead to. God does. God can speak in great and not great circumstances and He often is. Can we hear Him? What might He be trying to tell us in our current circumstances? What is He calling us to or out of? It's not always easy or comfortable. But if we can hear Him it's better.4. The ChurchIn scripture, the church is equated to "the body" of Christ. A body is made up of many members with unique qualities and roles. God made you to be a unique part of the body. All of the parts of the body need each other. We need the Church. God will speak through our fellowship. Have an amazing week and listen for God's voice this week! We love ya church!
