Know to Live
“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” – John 17:3.
A lot of people think eternal life is simply living forever. But Jesus shows us it’s so much more. It’s living forever with Him—and it starts now. Eternal life is a relationship, not just a destination.
Knowing God isn’t like knowing a celebrity from what you see on social media. It’s like knowing a true friend—someone you talk to every day, share your joys, fears, victories, and struggles with. It’s about intimacy.
The danger is thinking that knowing about God is the same as truly knowing Him. The religious leaders in Jesus’ time knew the Law inside and out, but they didn’t recognize God when He stood right in front of them. Their religion was full of information but empty of transformation.
Paul writes in Romans 10:14 that there’s no salvation without knowing Christ, and Hosea 4:6 reminds us that God’s people perish for lack of knowledge—not of math or history, but of who He truly is.
This kind of knowledge changes who we are. It pulls us away from false gods—money, status, temporary pleasures—and connects us to the true God. It shapes us to think, speak, and act like Jesus.
If you want to live the eternal life Jesus talked about, don’t wait for heaven. Start seeking Him now: read about Him in the Word, talk to Him in prayer, and live out His words in your everyday life. Because in the end, it’s not how long you live that matters, but who you live with.
