In this next edition of the Know Vallejo Podcast, we discuss the history of cinema and film making in Vallejo, CA and Solano County with Solano Film Office Liaison Jim Reikowsky
Jim has served as the liaison since 1998 and in this episode we go over some of the history of projects, old and new that has come through Vallejo including projects like Jack, Flubber and What Dreams May Come with the late Robin Williams. Other features like the Eddie Murphy film Metro, Adam Sandler in 50 First Dates Joaquin Phoenix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman in The Master and more.
We discuss Television shows that have filmed out here like Mythbusters, Battlebots and Amazing World of Gumball as well as some other commercial projects that have filmed in Vallejo and Solano County.
We then discuss some of the benefits and reasons why there is a boom in film production in the area, which utilizes the recent California Tax Incentive program for film productions working outside of Los Angeles and why Vallejo and the Bay Area is an ideal location for projects to work out here with studios like Film Mare Island.
Lastly we discuss some of the challenges filmmakers experience and best practices one should take when trying to get their next project off the ground and ensure they are prepared for any additional challenges that can arise during production.
