As shareholders and others have been asking loudly whether company boards are up to the task, directors have been contemplating whether the job is worth the risk. At state and territory level in Australia, directors face 663 pieces of legislation imposing personal liability. And a survey has found this is making it harder to attract and retain good directors. So, is the answer in less regulation or more education for the top decision-makers in Australia’s corporations – or maybe both?
