Investors are ending 2018 with queasy feelings, and the new year might not be any better for them—the real question is, will that uneasy feeling spread to the entire economy as a whole? Autonomous cars continue their march toward everyday use, and your smartphone will recognize, track and even predict more of your everyday behavior.

Then there’s social media in 2019:  Facebook has become a lightning rod for debate over privacy, and that fight isn’t likely to ease up in the new year, especially as Congress wrestles with regulating social media platforms.
