“[I was evangelizing but] I can’t speak English well so I say,”Hi!” and then she ask a question and I say “what did you say?” And this is a favourite memory.”
Koki has been a student here for 2 1/2 years taking the ESL program, and describes the funny challenges and victories this has brought. He went from not being able to understand the language during evangelism, to being able to translate for missionaries in his hometown. (Koki has actually succeeded so well, that he is enrolled in our regular Biblical Studies program this year, no longer needing to be in ESL!) This episode is a fun adventure. Evangelism! Missions! Coffee Shops! Scorpion meat?
It’s always so fun to hear about our culture from a different perspective, you will get to hear about how Koki has adjusted during his time here, and what he plans to do next. He also talks about the differences he sees in Christian communities and church in Canada, and in Japan.
